Citizen Holdings Co., Ltd. (Shichizun Hōrudingusu Kabushiki-gaisha) is the core company of a Japanese global corporate group based in Tokyo, Japan. The company was originally founded as Shokosha Watch Research Institute in 1918 and is currently known as the manufacturer of CINCOM precision lathe machine tools as well as CITIZEN watches. Citizen Eco-Drive technology includes a special titanium lithium ion battery that is charged by an amorphous silicon solar cell located behind the dial. Most Eco-Drive men's watch models offer a six-month power reserve. The battery itself will last more than 10 years and according to Citizen Europe laboratory tests, the battery will retain 80% of its storage capacity after 20 years.
